Hybrid Research sprung up within the MRGA in 2010, and across the industry. This concept has been around for years simply as mixed mode methodology.
With Social Media Research Blurring the lines with traditional models, I think this trend is sure to spread in next year and the years to come.
I think it all comes down to positioning the marketing.
It is a tried and true approach - combining available methods to maximize the research ROI for the client. One obvious challenge is determining the communication patterns of those targeted for the research. Social media is not necessarily mass media. Another is staying abreast of changes in the Social Media landscape - so that one can continuous provide clients with creative, cost-effective approaches.
